The central topic of Falk Gernegroß` work is the female nude. The structure of the painting and the technique of gaze remind the viewer of the Renaissance or the Romanticism, but through small details he sees references to the present time. These objects - towels, jewellery or shoes - create situations, which not only give a reference to the present, but also evoke stories in the mind of the viewer. In his paintings Falk Gernegroß plays with all of the medial possibilities - the female image in the mass media or the one of the slippery parts of the internet are as likely to be models for his paintings as the own body or pictures of the personal life. Despite of -or because of - all the nudity, no eroticism arises. Finally the viewer is as naked as the depicted figure. No request is given to view, but it is a challenge, which sometimes can also be seen in the glance of the represented character.
