Susanne Kühn & Inessa Hansch - Bench

Although [Susanne] Kühn works with styles and genres familiar from art history, namely landscapes, interiors and portraits, her visual worlds are deliberately disassociated and precarious. Like a Neo-Romantic, she conjures up what appear to be conventional images of nature, reverie and unspecified longing, making us think we are on familiar ground. However, her carefully constructed pictorial spaces also engender a sense that parallel realities are bursting in on the apparent calm.
